Baikal Lake

This lake is in the southern sector of the asiatic Russia, in the region of Siberia, next to Mongolia.The maximum depth is about 1.637m so it is the deapest lake in the world.Its form is  a half moon.It has a length of 636km and a width which alters between 14 and 85km. Baikal’s total surface is about 31.468km2 and the lake has 1.963km of coast.
Selenga,Barguzin,Jolodnaia and Verjnaia Angara are the rivers which gave water to the Baikal.The lake has some little islands too.In the Baikal live the Baikal seals wich are the only seals of freshwater in the world.Between 1969 and 1977 the fishing was forbidden.
